PostHeaderIcon New Alex Ross 1/25 Batmobile Box Art

So here’s a look at the current mock-up of the 1/25 snap-kit box art. This is the highly anticipated Alex Ross art, though from what we hear, they’re using elements styled in different formats for the new products. So, maybe we’ll get a more elaborate setting or treatment in the 1:25 glue kit or the slot cars etc. Obviously not the final packaging, since they’re still showing the aurora reissue car body as a placeholder in the background, but  – we’re starting to get excited here.

PostHeaderIcon “New” Batboat Kit from Round 2

If you were having trouble finding Polar Light’s original Batboat release from 2003 (they’re still pretty available on ebay etc) or you were just looking for another box version to put on your display shelf – here’s an option for you.

Re-Released without too much hoopla or fanfare for 2010 – the Polar Lights Batboat kit in 1/25 is out now. “Based” on the original Aurora Batboat kit from 1967  it differs in some significant ways. First, they scaled it up from the 60’s 1/32 to 1/25 so it’s a much bigger Batboat. Also, the interior cabin and dash details have been tweaked to reflect a better level of detail.

No news yet what differs about this 2010 release compared to the 2003 version. But for sure, the box is a different format. Instead of the long, retro box that came out in 2003, it looks to be more like the AMT squareish box. And tere are subtle changes to the printing and art as well.

PostHeaderIcon Fingers Crossed, Boys.

1/25 Snap kit before the end of this year? Wow. I really hope so. Actually, I’ll be thrilled and amazed, frankly if either the snap or the glue kits get released at all. But the mockups look excellent so let’s keep a happy thought. Diecast was great. But a 1/25 plastic, accurate model kit answers a lifelong quest for me. PLUS, I’ve got dozens of accurate parts for this scale including…uh, those of a figural nature. Who wants to start the nitpicking with me early? You knew it would be coming, right? Okay – from the looks of the photo, there is a break point all along the top edge of the tail-fins.  That’s a stupid place to put a transition part as it’s going to need to be puttied and smoothed. I know it’’s a KIT and all, but I’d be happy with a one-piece main body like every resin garage version of the car featured all during the 90’s as opposed to taking cues from the original Revell Futura kit which is a nightmare to fit together.  Ah well, we wouldn’t want it too easy would we? Or would we…

PostHeaderIcon There’s being seen, and then there’s Being SEEN…

Not sure where this one falls. But here we go. Seen at  Wonderfest and the iHobby expo .

We tweaked up some recent photos from the shows. Not a lot to see.  Here’s yet another shot of the Aurora batmobile re-release and the hideous display tin version. Yeah we know. Even though you buried it under thousands of dollars worth of Star Trek promotional displays some of us are still aware that you’re releasing the single most popular Aurora model kit EVER again. Eventually.

These are either new slot bodies of the batmobile and penguinmobile, or they’re just 1/50 test shots. Seems odd to show a resin test shot of a car that is already out and only going through some tampo changes at the most, but the other thing they could be – slot car bodies, doesn’t seem likely either. These pieces look bigger than their proposed scale but it’s hard to say really.

Last but not least a quick glimpse at the slot track Bat set.

Sorry the pics aren’t better. God forbid the companies actually follow up with the press releases they promise you. Nothing more to see here folks, keep it moving…

So, looks like a cool Model Motoring Christmas set this year if all goes well.
