Well, changes are again in the works around here. Lots of stuff happening and news on the way. Hopefully the holiday break will afford us some time to finish up some projects and make some updates. Well, someone either listened to our requests, or saw an opportunity for more sales. Either way – we’re stoked. Thanks to Tim for finding this new item. It LOOKS like Hot Wheels is adding to their “1:50′ line with a 1966 Batcopter. Wowza.

Batmobile on the way into Pittsburgh in the rain

I just talked to Mark Racop and his lovely wife on their way into our currently dreary and rainy city for the Steel City Con. I’m hoping to join them for a bit tomorrow and Sunday, get a video interview with him about Batmobile licensing and hopefully with Anthony about his car. Stay bat-tuned.

So, some of you have noticed we haven’t posted in a while. Well, you’re right. There are some big changes in the works for the PMB! site. In the next few weeks, you’ll be seeing them. Plus we’re launching a sister site and re-launching an old favorite site that people have been asking about since it went dark in 2005.

This weekend we’ll be at the Pittsburgh Steel City Con with Adam West, a licensed full-sized Batmobile replica and loads of display items. Hopefully, we’ll be blogging from the show, with some great looks at whatever we see that looks cool!

1966 Batmobile Replica Comes Under the Hammer at Auction

Yet another wannabe replica of the most iconic and distinctive film cars of all time, the 1960s era Batmobile, is going up for sale at the inaugural Historics at Brooklands auction in Surrey on June 2.

This particular example is based on a 1973 Lincoln Continental chassis and was completed in 1988, following input from well-known custom coachbuilder, Bill Chaplin.

But even though the 1966 Batmobile replica incorporates all the styling cues and Batman paraphernalia including an in-dashboard television, rear parachute pod, boot mounted exhaust pipes and Batphone, it’s obvious that the car isn’t a faithful replica of the original George Barris car that stared in the 1960s Batman and Robin TV series.

Batmobile, you ignorant, misguided slot…

Just a funny headline opportunity – nothing ignorant about it. Looks like we might be getting slot car Batmobiles. Autoworld is an imprint of Round 2/Polar Lights etc. so – fingers crossed. Whatever the final slot cars look like – they had me from the retro catalog design. Here’s a description of their “4 Gear” slot car:

In my day job, I am a marketing consultant for a music retailer and a new guitar process service, so I am currently in Anaheim at the Winter NAMM show which unveils all new guitars, amps, equipment etc. for the year. And what do I stumble upon? The Batmobile! It was here promoting the Barris licensed Wing Bat, Krest and Drag-U-La guitars, (of which – as guitars go - the less said the better) George is supposed to be here today sometime.
