Our 1:18 Hot Wheels 1966 Batmobile You Tube video hits 5000 views in less than 2 months!

Posted on Sunday 6 April 2008

Just excited that our little “first look” video of the standard edition hit 5000 views in less than 2 months on You Tube. Still looking for a diecast vendor to make a deal to send us an Elite as soon as they come in so we can get the next video ready.

In other video news - we are also gearing up our set of instructional videos on making modifications to the batmobile. Hopefully the first one will be up next week. If anyone else wants to contribute a video - let us know. Also - give us some comments about what specific upgrades you want to see on video.

Remember - you can all comment simply by clicking on the “leave a comment” button below the posts.

Standard Version 1:18 Hot Wheels Batmobiles at Toys R Us

Tim from TPM Customs dropped this bit of hot news - the shelf marker tags for the standard edition car were present at the Cranberry Twp. TRU (North of Pittsburgh) and when he asked the clerk when they were coming in, the guy said - “The Adam West Batmobile? Oh they were just in and sold out already.” So - get in your cars people. Check those retailers. If TRU got them, can Wal-Mart be close behind?

Custom Shop OPEN! Questions and Answers

Posted on Thursday 3 April 2008

As many of you who have pre-ordered the figure set already know - our Custom Shop (products Page) is now open for business! Well, some business anyway. The figure sets preorders are flying out the door and we’re nearing the end of our run there.

We don’t have many items up there yet but they are coming as fast as lightning. We have deals with vendors pending and lots more of our own products will be joining the ranks soon. DVD’s, CD’s, T-Shirts, Display Resources, Hobby Supplies - we hope you’ll check back as we grow. And please - if you know anyone who makes any Bat-related products, tell them we’re looking for affiliate partnership arrangements. If they want to reach the kind of pinpoint, optimized target base we reach - have them drop us a line.

Quick Note About Log-In “Problems” - I’m sorry this was as confusing as it has been for some of you but your pimpmybatmobile.com user registration and password are NOT the username and password to use for the Custom Shop! We decided to add another layer of privacy and exclusivity to the products page so you have to wait until after you get the email labeled “custom shop log-in info” before you can access that page.  This can sometimes take a while as it’s not an autorespond. Sorry for the hassle but - we feel it’s necessary right now.

Happy batmo-modeling! (I gotta get a better sign-off…)

Hot Wheels 1:18 Batmobile Mods: 4

beatlepaul01.jpgContinuing on with our focus on Batmobile Custom Modeling. Mark Myers lives in Cherry Hill, NJ and has been a Batman fan since he was Five years old. (He’s 42) He is an avid modeler and goes by the user ID BeatlePaulBat on the boards for a good reason - He is a musician and plays Paul McCartney in a Beatles tribute band called Revolution.  I thought he did a great job with replacing the grillework on the car. Here’s the method he used:

beatlepaul01.jpg

I didn’t like the look of the solid plastic Grillwork on the 1/18 66 Bat, so I decided to replace them. After a trip to my local Hobby Shop, I found what I believed to be an Accurate grill pattern to the Grill work of the #1 car in 66.

First I carefully unscrewed the Body of the car from bottom. Then I used masking tape around the front of the car, so I would’nt scratch any paint. With a Brand new X-Acto Blade, I made repeated passes along the bottom and sides of the Plastic Grillwork.

[I have to point out that the plastic grill work is attached to the plastic bottom of the car.]

I then Gently Popped them out. I traced the pattern on my Grill work, then cut it out. I did the same for the Clear headlight part already on the car, and Replaced it with my grill work.

I also removed the plastic “Bat ray” lense, and replaced it with clear amber/orange colored plastic. Finally, I scribed in the horizontal lines that were in the lenses in 66.
