So THAT’S what a Towle-built ’66 looks like? I’m underwhelmed. Too many inaccuracies and glittery/fake trinkets on it…

Well, first off – while I personally don’t want to fan those flames over on this website (the 1:1 crowd is a bit too mercenary for my taste) don’t let me stop any of you from stating your opinions, bring ’em on! We are a detail-oriented Batmobile site, after-all. :)

However, I completely agree that while it’s cool that there’s a Corvette platform and it goes fast, the trim items (bat-radar, exhaust ribs, fake Ansen handles, the list goes on) leave a lot to be desired.

…not to mention that the front grill area shape is just so waaaay off!

Last picture gives a new meaning to the therm “asshat”!

Being a fan of BOTH of these cars, I had to reply.

I have to agree with what the fan poll said re: which car being most practical ( ? ) in Gotham City. I think th 89′ would have it.

However….I guess it really depends on what comic “universe” we’re talking about here. I’ll always have a first love for the 66′, and in that more comic book type “universe”, the 66′ IS the king !.
BUT….if I were to look at a more “real” Gotham City, where just maybe a rich guy with a mission really needed transportation around town…..I’d have to give it to the 89′.

I also think both cars looked really good, and with that in mind, I have to admit I’m not as up on all the specific details of the 66′ the way many of you are. But what I DO know is the caped crusader NEVER had gold metal flake levers ! !

Both cars looked great, but there were a few things that annoyed me. Like the the gold glittery lever what was that by the way. and also like Tim said what was with the grill. Even though these things annoyed me I still enjoyed seeing the ’66 batmobile it was great, and after the video I played with my. Hot wheels batmobile collection. It doesn’t matter how many said the ’89 was going to win , I knew the ’66 was gonna win. Great video, and great cars thanks for the treat.

Well, I agree with you about the ’89 probably being the one I’d pick if I were on Top Gear. However, The original #1 ’66 car did indeed have a gold sparkle flake lever. But it was much more pale gold metal flake, bordering on silver, than this one is. And the flake was a bit finer, making it less “disco”. Here’s a thread about the original Ansen “T” handles used in the Batmobile.
